     SpikesFest 2012

    Free
    Sunday, February 12, 2012 @ 11:00 AM: State College
The annual State College SpikesFest will be held February 12 from 11:00 a.m. until 3:00 p.m. at the Penn State Indoor Multi-Sport Facility. Parking and admission are free. Now in its sixth year as the State College area's premier winter family activity, SpikesFest is a giant indoor baseball carnival designed to simulate the experience of fun ballpark activities during the heart of Winter. The event will feature free autograph sessions, inflatable games, kids activities, video games, appearances by players and mascots, performances by local entertainment groups, unique experiences, door prizes, ticket specials, and much more. Among the confirmed appearances for this year's event will be mascots Ike the Spike, the Nittany Bank Nookie Monster, Bob the Baseball Dog and a special visit from the Pittsburgh Pirate Parrot. In addition, popular Spikes catcher Matt Skirving will be in attendance to meet and greet fans, sign autographs and participate in other SpikesFest activities. Confirmed exhibits and educational displays include birds of prey and other animals from Shaver's Creek. The Spikes will also once again hold a silent auction of sports memorabilia and entertainment experiences with all proceeds to benefit Coaches vs. Cancer. Over the first five SpikesFest events, the club has helped to raise several thousand dollars for Coaches vs. Cancer, a nation-wide collaboration between the American Cancer Society and the National Association of Basketball Coaches (NABC).

Blue-White Weekend set for April 20-22
Friday, April 20, 2012 @ 4:00 PM: University Park Campus Saturday, April 21, 2012 @ 09:00 AM: University Park Campus Sunday, April 22, 2012 @ 09:00 AM: University Park Campus
The dates for one of the highlights of the Penn State sports calendar, Blue-White Weekend presented by AAA, have been set for 2012. Blue-White Weekend will be held April 20-22, 2012, with the Blue-White football game on April 21 as the centerpiece for numerous activities throughout the weekend in and around Beaver Stadium. Numerous events are held during Blue-White Weekend, including a carnival, fireworks, food vendors, the student entertainment stage and live music, a parade and the Penn State Idol finals. On gameday, the popular autograph session with the football student-athletes is held prior to kickoff of the Blue-White Game in Beaver Stadium. Blue-White Weekend has become the university's unofficial annual reunion and attracted record-breaking spring football crowds in excess of 70,000 from 2007-09, topped by 76,500 at the 2009 contest. The past two Blue-White Games have seen rain and cool weather stop the run of record-setting audiences. For information on joining the Nittany Lion Club and purchasing season tickets, as well as club seating in Beaver Stadium, fans can call 1-800-648-8269 (1-800-NITTANY).
