Tuesday, December 13, 2011 to Sunday, January 22, 2012: Bellefonte
The GREAT Girls (Girls Respecting Each Other And Themselves) is a program for girls in grades 6-8 to promote self-esteem, self-respect and physical fitness. Each student will have the opportunity to gain positive leadership skills that will help them lead a healthy life. This program will have many components throughout the 6 weeks such as healthy eating, body image, and how to stay active while having fun. NEW Program: Girls On The Run® in Happy Valley
Girls on the Run® is a life-changing, experiential learning programs for girls age eight to thirteen years old. The programs combine training for a 3.1 mile running event with self-esteem enhancing, uplifting workouts. The goals of the programs are to encourage positive emotional, social, mental, spiritual and physical development. The objective of Girls on the Run is to educate and empower girls at an early age in order to prevent the display of at-risk activities in the future. At risk activities include substance/alcohol use, eating disorders, early onset of sexual activity, sedentary lifestyle, depression, suicide attempts and confrontations with the juvenile justice system.

Centre Region Parks and Rec: Discounted Ski Lift Tickets for 13 sites!
A new ski season is coming! Please review the 2011-2012 SKI SEASON PRICES.
Centre Region Parks & Recreation, in cooperation with the Pa. Recreation and Park Society, is pleased to offer (starting in mid-December) discounted ski lift vouchers for 13 areas. The vouchers are offered on a first-paid basis. The offers are good only while the supply of allotted vouchers lasts, and the supply of vouchers will be replenished periodically throughout the ski season. Proceeds benefit the Centre Region Gifts-For-Parks Program. Vouchers may be purchased by Centre Region residents and nonresidents at the prices listed below - at the CRPR office counter during business hours.

Father's Day weekend is traditionally a time for Dads to head to Bellefonte to "oooo" and "ahhh" at the tricked out cars, trucks, vans and cycles. Penn State First NightFirst Night®State College will take place in downtown State College, Pennsylvania and on adjacent University Park campus of The Pennsylvania State University on December 31, 2012 - January 1, 2013. First Night State College features musical and theatrical performances in downtown churches, carriage rides, reindeer display, a Grand Procession, indoor and outdoor resolution sculptures, and art workshops for young people downtown and at the Palmer Museum of Art on the Penn State campus. For the athletically inclined, we even present a 5K Resolution Run in conjunction with the Nittany Valley Running Club. The race starts on College Avenue near Allen St and tours parts of downtown and the Penn State Campus. The finish line is on College Avenue near Garner St. (Register for the race online at www.active.com.) We truly have something for everyone.

 Central PA 4th Fest

There is no admission for attending the Central PA 4th Fest activities and fireworks display. You can watch the fireworks from many vantage points near the BJC and stadium area. We do ask that you give a $10.00 per car donation for general admission parking. Despite the all volunteer nature of our event we must still purchase the fireworks, materials and insurance. We also must incur the expenses that go along with providing for your security and safety. Want to experience and feel the fireworks and see the spectacular ground effects at their best...VIP Special Viewing Pass. These VIP Viewing Passes are available to the general public and can be purchased in advance in person or via telephone beginning May 17th at the Bryce Jordan Center’s ticket office. Over 4,600 people in 2010 watched the fireworks show and special ground effects from this in close special vantage point. Please check www.bjc.psu.edu/tickets for window and telephone hours.
