Rumors
Tuesday, May 15-19 and May 22-26, 2012 @ 8:00 PM: Boal Barn Playhouse
Cost: Youth and Seniors $12, Adults $14
State College Community Theatre presents Rumors by Neil Simon on stage May 15-19 and May 22-26 at 8 p.m. at the Boal Barn Playhouse, 197 Boal Estate Drive, Boalsburg. Note: Contains mature language. At a large, tastefully appointed Sneden's Landing townhouse, the Deputy Mayor of New York has just shot himself. Though only a flesh wound, four couples are about to experience a severe attack of Farce. Gathering for their tenth wedding anniversary, the host lies bleeding in the other room and his wife is nowhere in sight. His lawyer, Ken and wife Chris must get "the story" straight before the other guests arrive. As the confusions and mis-communications mount, the evening spins off into classic farcical hilarity.

Saturday, May 19, 2012 @ 11:59 PM: The State Theatre
Cost: $7.00
The State Theatre presents the film Rocky Horror Picture Show May 19 at 11:30 p.m. The story, narrated by a criminologist, tells the tale of a newly engaged couple, Brad Majors and Janet Weiss, who find themselves lost and with a flat tire late one cold and rainy November evening. Seeking a phone with which to call for help, Brad and Janet discover a group of strange and outlandish people who are holding an Annual Transylvanian Convention. They are soon swept into the world of Dr. Frank-N-Furter. The ensemble of convention attendees also include servants Riff Raff, his sister/lover Magenta, and a groupie named Columbia. The cast boasts several fantastic and well-known actors, including: Tim Curry as Dr. Frank-N-Furter, Susan Sarandon as Janet Weiss, Barry Bostwick as Brad Majors, and Meatloaf as Eddie, an ex-delivery boy. The film is considered to be the longest-running release in film history. It has never been pulled by 20th Century Fox from its original 1975 release, and it continues to play in cinemas. Some cinemas showing the film have run it for decades at a time. For more information visit The State Theatre's website or call 814-272-0606.

Todd Rundgren
Sunday, May 27, 2012 @ 7:00 PM: The State Theatre
Cost: $49.00
Todd Rundgren will be in concert Sunday May 27 at 7:00pm at The State Theatre. Todd Rundgren is an American multi-instrumentalist, songwriter and record producer. Hailed in the early stage of his career as a new pop-wunderkind with the certified gold solo double LP Something/Anything? in 1972, Todd Rundgren’s career has produced a diverse range of recordings, both as a solo artist, and during the ‘70s and ‘80s with the band Utopia. Born and raised in Philadelphia, Rundgren began playing guitar as a teenager, going on to found and front The Nazz, the quintessential ‘60s cult group. In 1969, he left the band to pursue a solo career, recording his debut offering, the legendary Runt. But it was 1972′s seminal Something/Anything?, on which he played all the instruments, sang all the vocal parts, and acted as his own producer, that catapulted Todd into the superstar limelight. He has also been prolific as a producer and engineer on the recorded work of other musicians. Rundgren’s myriad production projects include albums by Patti Smith, Cheap Trick, Psychedelic Furs, Meatloaf, XTC, Grand Funk Railroad, and Hall And Oates. Rounding out his reputation as rock’s renaissance man, Rundgren composed all the music and lyrics for Joe Papp’s 1989 Off-Broadway production of Joe Orton’s Up Against It (the screenplay was commissioned by The Beatles for what was meant to have been their third motion picture). He has also composed the music for a number of television series, including Pee Wee’s Playhouse and Crime Story. Rundgren Trivia: “Time Heals” (1981), the first music video to utilize state-of-the-art compositing of live action and computer graphics (produced and directed by Todd), became the second video to be played on MTV, immediately following the “Video Killed the Radio Star.” Tickets are $49 and are available on their website and at the box office.
