The 2012 Annual Fraternal Order of Police is underway. Solicitors will identify themselves as Bald Eagle Lodge No. 51, Fraternal Order of Police and do not ask for cash payments or credit card information, but request checks be made out to the Lodge. Patton Township Snow Notice

Patton Township residents are reminded that all sidewalks must be cleaned of all snow/ice within 24 hours after the end of the storm. Also, there is no parking on Patton Township streets within 48 hours after a snow accumulation of at least 2 inches, or if a snow emergency is declared.
State College Borough Refuse Collection Notice

Due to New Years, there will be no refuse/recycling collection for State College Borough residents on January 2. Those with collections scheduled for that day will have a collection January 4 instead. Bulk and brush collection won't be collected the week of January 2. DivorceCare Winter/Spring Session

YMCA Weigh to Go Campaign

The Bellefonte YMCA presents the "Weigh to Go" community-wide weight loss challenge. Individuals or teams will have the opportunity to log weight loss, activity minutes or both. Registration is $10, which includes a t-shirt. The deadline to signup is January 11. Prizes will be awarded to the team or individual with the highest total weight loss, the highest percentage of weight loss and the highest total activity minutes. GREAT Girls Program

The GREAT Girls (Girls Respecting Each Other And Themselves) is a program for girls in grades 6-8 to promote self-esteem, self-respect and physical fitness. Each student will have the opportunity to gain positive leadership skills that will help them lead a healthy life. This program will have many components throughout the 6 weeks such as healthy eating, body image, and how to stay active while having fun. First Night®State College will take place in downtown State College, Pennsylvania and on adjacent University Park campus of The Pennsylvania State University on December 31, 2012 - January 1, 2013. First Night State College features musical and theatrical performances in downtown churches, carriage rides, reindeer display, a Grand Procession, indoor and outdoor resolution sculptures, and art workshops for young people downtown and at the Palmer Museum of Art on the Penn State campus. For the athletically inclined, we even present a 5K Resolution Run in conjunction with the Nittany Valley Running Club. The race starts on College Avenue near Allen St and tours parts of downtown and the Penn State Campus. The finish line is on College Avenue near Garner St. (Register for the race online at www.active.com.) We truly have something for everyone.
