The Salvation Army of Centre County is accepting applications for their children's Back-To-School program. The program assists struggling families with children in grades K-12. Families who qualify receive approximately $100 worth of new school clothes and supplies. If you believe you may be eligible, call (814) 861-1785 to schedule an appointment. Space is limited and filling up fast. The event will be held August 21.
Milesburg Little League Tournament

PIAA/SCASD Interscholastic Athletics Physical Exams

All students who wish to join a State College Area School District-sponsored PIAA sports team for the 2010 fall season must submit a signed and completed SCASD Parent & Athlete Waiver and Sports Selection (PAWSS) and a PIAA Comprehensive Initial Pre-Participation Physical Evaluation (CIPPE) on or before August 9 at 4:00 p.m. The PAWSS and CIPPE will be made available pending PIAA release. Each student and his/her family should schedule a physical evaluation with an authorized medical examiner privately. Exams may be performed on or after June 1.
Contemporary Homes Photo Exhibit

Volunteer subjects receive physical screenings and compensation for experiments. 4-5 visits to Noll Lab are required. Eligibility criteria: Men and Women ages 40-60 who have or might have high blood pressure, but nonsmoker, not overweight, no heart or blood pressure medications, no oral contraceptives, no HRT and not pregnant. The Spikes face the Batavia Muckdogs, June 21-23, 2010 at 7:05PM. Monday's game is Dollar Dog Night. The State Theatre will present the 2009 fil 'The Art of the Steal', June 18-21, 2010. In 1922, Dr. Albert C. Barnes formed a remarkable educational institution around his priceless collection of art, located just five miles outside of Philadelphia. Now, more than 50 years after Barnes’ death, a powerful group of moneyed interests have gone to court for control of the art, and intend to bring it to a new museum in Philadelphia. Standing in their way is a group of Barnes’ former students and his will, which contains strict instructions stating the Foundation should always be an educational institution, and that the paintings may never be removed. Will they succeed, or will a man’s will be broken and one of America’s greatest cultural monuments be destroyed?
