Columbia Fire Company Fish Dinner

The Columbia Fire Company will be having a fish dinner at the fire hall from 4:00-7:00 p.m. There will be delicious baked or fried fish along with potatoes, stewed tomatoes, veggies and dessert. There will also be a full salad bar for dine-in customers. Take-out and delivery are available. For delivery, you must call by 4:00 p.m. on the day of the dinner. The cost is $9 for adults and $6 for children.

American Dream Housing Fund Auction

The American Dream Housing Fund Benefit Auction will be held on Friday, February 26, 2010 from 6:30-9:30 p.m. at the Ramada Inn Conference Center. The event, which is open to the public and attendees can enjoy an evening of fun bidding on dozens of donated items, including the headliner new home offering thanks to CDG Properties’ generous participation. Successful bidder(s) at the American Dream Housing benefit auction can choose to bid on a new construction home to be built by CDG Properties in the Whisper Ridge Development, located in State College. Buyers are asked to contact their REALTOR® of choice for details about the area. The home package details and bidder eligibility requirements are posted on www.happyvalleyhomes.org. Tickets for the event can be purchased by calling the CCAR office at 814-238-7622 or by contacting a member of the Benefit Auction Committee. Price per ticket is $20, which includes admission to the event, auction eligibility, entertainment and hors d’oeuvres reception. Quantity discounts on tickets are available: 1-4 tickets are $20 each; 5-9 tickets are $19 each and 10 or more are $18 each. All tickets include a coupon for one free beverage. Auction proceeds will be used to support an endowed fund, the American Dream Housing Fund, devoted to assuring that financial assistance is available to help qualified buyers in the Centre Region who want to realize the dream of home ownership. A secondary beneficiary of the auction proceeds will go to Housing Transitions, Inc. to assist with the expansion project of the Centre House emergency housing in State College. The YMCA of Centre County will be starting a program for girls’ ages 6-9th grade designed to promote self-esteem and self-respect with a section of physical fitness. Each student will have the opportunity to gain positive leadership skills that will help them lead a healthy life. This program, Great Girls, will have many components throughout the 8 weeks such as healthy eating, body image, and how to stay active while having fun. The program will meet every Tuesday and Thursday 4:00-5:30pm starting on March 15th at the State College YMCA. There will be a bus from Mount Nittany Middle School that can drop off at the YMCA if you contact the school. The cost of the program for members is $80 and $100 for non-members.
