The American Association of University Women (AAUW) State College Branch seeks applicants for four $5,000 undergraduate scholarships. Applicants must meet the following criteria: be a woman who is a permanent resident of Centre County; has completed at least one-quarter of her baccalaureate degree; has interrupted her studies for at least two years; attends an institution of higher education; and can demonstrate financial need, academic promise, clarity of educational goals, and service to the community. References and financial information are required. The application deadline is February 1, 2010. YMCA of Centre County Girls Program
Wednesday, January 27, 2010 to Monday, March 15, 2010: State College

The YMCA of Centre County will be starting a program for girls’ ages 6-9th grade designed to promote self-esteem and self-respect with a section of physical fitness. Each student will have the opportunity to gain positive leadership skills that will help them lead a healthy life. This program, Great Girls, will have many components throughout the 8 weeks such as healthy eating, body image, and how to stay active while having fun. The program will meet every Tuesday and Thursday 4:00-5:30pm starting on March 15th at the State College YMCA. There will be a bus from Mount Nittany Middle School that can drop off at the YMCA if you contact the school. The cost of the program for members is $80 and $100 for non-members. Wise Crackers Comedy Club Alzheimer's Association Fundraiser
