Jimmy Heath Quartet

Tenor saxophonist, composer, and teacher Jimmy Heath -- a living legend of jazz -- has collaborated with a who's who of great American musicians during his six-decade career. Heath has performed with jazz greats since 1948 and has written over 100 compositions. In addition, he has composed three suites, two string quartets, and a symphonic work. For ten years Heath was a professor at Queens College City University of New York, where a chair was established in his honor. He has also taught jazz studies at New School University and other New York City colleges, as well as conducted workshops and clinics throughout North America and Europe. Boys of the Lough: A Celtic Christmas

After two years of waiting, fans of the Bellefonte Melodramas have something to Cheer, Hiss, and Boo: The Melodramas are back! Peanuts will fly as the students of the Bellefonte Area High School Drama Club present "A Night of Naughty Nineties" November 18-20 at 7:30 p.m. November 21-22 will feature two showings, one at 7:00 p.m. and the second at 9:00 p.m. All tickets are $5. Members of the audience are welcome to show their appreciation of the actors by pelting them with peanuts; proceeds from the purchase of peanuts for pelting purposes preserve the drama program.

The State College Knights of Columbus is holding a Turkey Dinner at 850 Stratford Drive in State College November 20 from 4:30-6:30 p.m. Delicious turkey along with all of the traditional Thanksgiving fixins are on the menu. On November 21 beginning at 6:30 p.m., campus groups at Penn State will be hosting a Thanksgiving dinner for students camping at Paternoville the night before the Michigan State game. Numerous campus ministries, local business and State College churches will be working together to promote community, food and fun at Paternoville. The goal of the night is to provide a warm, home cooked Thanksgiving meal for all and foster relationships within campus and in State College. The event is being planned and coordinated by Christian Student Fellowship students in collaboration with the United Campus Ministries and State College Christian Church.

The Bald Eagle Area Drama Club presents "Charlotte's Web" at the Bald Eagle High School Auditorium November 21-22 at 7:30 p.m. and November 23 at 2:00 p.m. Tickets are available at the door and are $5 for adults and $3 for students.

Join the Philipsburg-Osceola High School Drama Club take a magical journey through he wardrobe to Narnia. Based on C.S. The Buffalo Run United Methodist Church, located on Route 550 just outside of Bellefonte, is giving out winter clothing again this year. In order to do so, the church is collecting donations of gently used cotes, hates and gloves. The greatest need is for children's coats of all sizes and men's/women's coats in sizes XXL and XXXL. The State College Odd Fellows Lodge #1032 is having a spaghetti dinner November 22 at the lodge hall on Rolling Ridge Drive in State College. Spaghetti and meatballs, salad, desserts and more are all on the menu. The cost is $6 per person with proceeds going to benefit a host of non-profit groups in the State College area.

The State College Assembly of God is hosting "Let it Rise," a community benefit worship concert November 23 at 7 p.m. at the church, 2201 University Drive Extension in State College. A tax-deductible donation will be taken during the event to raise money to help the heating costs of Centre County residents in need.

Spring Township will be collecting leaves for the final time November 24, weather permitting. Leaf piles must be visible and easily accessible and piles back on private property will not be picked up. Leaf debris must not be mixed with other garbage and crews will go over each street only once. All leafs that you wish to have collected must be out prior to Monday morning.

The State College Assembly of God, 2201 University Drive Extension in State College, is hosting a community Thanksgiving dinner November 26 from 5:30-7:30 p.m. with the doors opening at 5:00 p.m. There is no cost for this dinner.
